Progress Review

My progress review grade was D with a total of 11 marks. This grade was not was expected as my initial target grade was of B standard. Feedback given was to improve on attendance to insure that i would not fall behind on work and end up having to catch up as that would only allow stress to build up and prevent me from achieving full potential. Another comment which was made was to focus more on individual blog post as it would give me extra marks and allow me to reach a higher grade. Furthermore, i was also told that if i use ICT and add multimedia forms i would be able to reach the higher grade.

for the male: The rich popular male will be wearing smart casual clothes, this will consists of a shirt , jumper, formal trousers and a peacoat. He'll also have accessories such as an expensive watch and a iPhone to help show off his wealthy lifestyle.

for the female:

The female will be wearing casual clothes such as a plain t-shirt, jeans and trainers, she'll also be wearing a cap. the female will be wearing quite bland colours to blend in as an ordinary person.

Progress Review Blog.

For AS media studies we have had to produce many blogs about research and planning. It is marked on the following:

• Regular Post - 2 or 3 minimum a week throughout the whole production
• Variety of technology used in presentation of information
• Clear progression of the project (i.e.: posts appear in logical order)
• A strong individual voice and contribution separate from group posts
• Extra blogging posts, as well as those on the blogging checklist.

I have completed quite a lot of the task set on the checklist, such as a write up of the Bling Ring,  the time toast timeline of the order of titles and everything set before. However in my opinion i haven't been posting frequent enough and haven't put enough effort into blogging as I could easily do. Therefore from now i'll post frequently at every oppurtunity I find that can easily be turned into a blog. For example if i watch a teen film i could easily spare some time into writing a blog about the film.

I have done many tasks on the second page but I hadn't really noticed all the opportunities I had to do easy posts in my spare time. From now I will keep pay attention to the blogging checklist and be sure to keep up to date by checking off what I have done and realising what we have passed that I haven't done.

type of music i reasearched to be featured in my opening and how they would work

i found two pieces that will be feautured in the opening. in order to find these soundtracks i used  soundcloud through creative commons. in order to find the right piece for the music over the males scene in the opening i used past experience, at first i searched dance/ dubstep music but i couldnt find the right one which fits to the character so i searched kanye west music due to past knowledge that he has made alot of 'power' music and i ended up with
 Jay-Z & Kanye West collaboration cover, the instrumental and lyrics fit perfect to the potrayal of our character. this was the soundtrack that will be played throughout the male's scene

the second piece of music that will be played throughout the female scene is a melancholic low pitched piano soundtrack to portray her sad and empty emotions, also it makes the contrast much easier. this is the soundtrak

 

its clear the contrast is great between both, the first is dubstep music and the second is piano music.

tutorial on handbrake

two weeks ago whilst putting our videos together for the breakfast club remake i was taught how to use handbrake to finalise the film.

the steps are simple. in order to upload the video on the blog open handbrake then click source on the top left corner of the window,it should look like this

  then simply locate  your video file click the file then click the open tab at the bottom.
be sure to press blogger (640x385) on the side. then finally press the start button and wait until it is converted into an MP4, save the file in a secure easily accessible place and upload!

Why it is important to use sound that is copyright free!

It is important to use copyright free music so you don't break the law when producing our coursework, If you used a music track that had copyright protection then posted your film on youtube it will be considered as breaking the law. Also if we use uncopyrighted music then we gain more marks for showing understanding of the copyright law and we could be awarded for our increased level of creativity. It'll also show that we know how to layer sound from the use of copyright free music and sound effects.

The feedback we received was good by the majority. our teacher's comment was she liked how we contrasted both characters(through the music, setting) this shows we have achieved what we wanted,which was effectiveness through simplicity.

there was 2 questions asked by the class, the first question was "why did we choose to represent the female character as a psychologically challenged person?" my response was that it distinguishes the great contrast between both characters ( a poor, mentally affected female with a rich popular male)

the second question was "what are the ages of the characters and who is your target audience?" my response to this was both characters are 17 years old, and that our target audience ranges from teenagers to adults and appeals to people affected mentally through hardship, and appeals to both the working class and upper class. this is very positive because it means our audience is a lot bigger.
